1. forget, neglect — To forget, lose from memory, or neglect; a deponent middle verb (ἐπιλανθάνομαι) with the ἐπι- prefix possibly intensifying the forgetting. Used of the disciples forgetting to bring bread (Matt 16:5; Mark 8:14), one who looks at his face in a mirror and immediately forgets what he looked like (Jas 1:24), Paul forgetting what lies behind in his race toward the goal (Phil 3:13), a sparrow not forgotten before God (Luke 12:6), God not being unjust to forget their work (Heb 6:10), and exhortations not to forget hospitality or doing good (Heb 13:2, 16).
