Forma contraída de ἔνεστι ('está dentro/presente'), este verbo en el uso neotestamentario funciona principalmente como marcador existencial enfático. Pablo lo emplea de manera memorable en Gálatas 3:28 — 'no hay judío ni griego, no hay esclavo ni libre, no hay varón ni mujer' — donde el triple ἔνι martilla la disolución de las categorías sociales en Cristo.
