Arrastrar, tirar, jalar; acarreo físico por la fuerza, o atracción espiritual divina.
El verbo ἕλκω abarca todo el espectro desde la fuerza bruta física hasta la misteriosa iniciativa divina. En su sentido concreto, se arrastran redes repletas de peces hasta la orilla (Juan 21:6, 11), Pedro desenvaina una espada (Juan 18:10), y Pablo y Silas son arrastrados ante los magistrados (Hechos 16:19). Pero en dos pasajes de enorme peso teológico, Jesús declara 'Nadie puede venir a mí si el Padre no lo atrae' (Juan 6:44) y 'Yo, cuando sea levantado, atraeré a todos hacia mí' (Juan 12:32). La evidencia multilingüe confirma la distinción: el español usa 'arrastrar' para la fuerza física y 'atraer' para el sentido espiritual.
