Adverbio que significa 'en lengua hebrea', usado por Juan para senalar terminos semiticos a su audiencia grecohablante. Cada aparicion introduce un nombre de lugar o titulo que Juan luego traduce: Betesda (Jn 5:2), Gabata (19:13), Golgota (19:17) y Raboni (20:16). En Juan 19:20 aparece junto a 'en latin' y 'en griego' para describir la inscripcion trilingue de Pilato en la cruz. El termino probablemente abarca tanto el hebreo propiamente dicho como el arameo, ya que varias de las palabras glosadas son de forma aramea.
