All translations emphasize the evidentiary nature: Arb ikhtibar (test/proof), Heb mivchan/hochachah (test/proof), Kor siheomul (testing/proof), Spa prueba (proof), Deu Pruefung (test), Fra epreuve (trial/proof), Hin parakh/pramaan (examination/evidence). 2. proven character, tested quality The quality of character that emerges through endurance of trials, tested and approved moral fiber. Rom 5:4 presents the progression: tribulation produces endurance, endurance produces dokime (proven character), and proven character produces hope. Phil 2:22 speaks of Timothy's dokime, his demonstrated reliability in gospel service. Spa caracter-probado (proven character), Hin kharapan (genuineness/purity), Kor dallyeon (discipline/training), Heb bechinah/nissayon (examination/trial). Distinct from mere 'proof' because it denotes the resulting quality of a person who has been tested, not the act of proving itself.

Arb ikhtibari/imtihan (testing/examination), Heb bechinah (examination), Kor siheom-e/siheom-euro (in testing), Spa prueba, Deu Pruefung, Fra epreuve, Hin pareeksha/jaanch (examination/inspection). This sense emphasizes the process of testing rather than the result (proof) or the character quality produced.
