Moneylender, creditor, one who loans money
A person who lends money to others, a creditor who expects repayment with or without interest. Jesus uses this figure in Luke 7:41, telling a parable about a moneylender who had two debtors—one owing five hundred denarii and another fifty—who forgave both when they couldn't pay. The parable illustrates that greater forgiveness produces greater love, explaining why the sinful woman loves Jesus so extravagantly.
