Una preposición que significa sin o aparte de, que toma el caso genitivo. Jesús pregunta a sus discípulos si recuerdan ser enviados 'sin bolsa' (Lucas 22:35). Judas buscaba traicionar a Jesús 'sin multitud' o 'lejos de la multitud' (Lucas 22:6). La poesía épica y trágica usaba este término donde la prosa clásica prefería 'choris' o 'aneu'. Enfatiza ausencia completa o separación de algo normalmente esperado o presente.

En el versículo 35, Jesús recuerda a los discípulos su misión previa sin provisiones, estableciendo precedente para dependencia de Dios y hospitalidad. En el versículo 6, describe la estrategia de Judas de traicionar a Jesús lejos de las multitudes que podrían haber intervenido.
