Diezmar; dar o recaudar la décima parte como obligación religiosa
Enraizado en la antigua práctica de entregar la décima parte a Dios, este verbo opera en dos direcciones: pagar diezmos y recaudarlos. Jesús reprende a los fariseos por diezmar meticulosamente hierbas como la menta y el eneldo mientras descuidan la justicia (Matt 23:23; Luke 11:42). La jactancia del recaudador de impuestos «yo diezmo todo lo que adquiero» (Luke 18:12) ilustra una precisión farisaica. En Hebrews 7:5, los sacerdotes levíticos recaudan los diezmos del pueblo. El término griego, al igual que el español «diezmar/diezmo», conserva la etimología explícita de la décima parte.
