4. it is enough / it is settled — Impersonal use meaning 'it is enough,' 'it is settled,' or 'the matter is concluded.' In Mark 14:41 Jesus says in Gethsemane ἀπέχει ('It is enough') after finding the disciples sleeping the third time, signaling the end of the vigil as the betrayer approaches. This impersonal use is debated among commentators -- some take it as 'the account is settled' (commercial metaphor), others as 'it is far off' (the end is far away), but the dominant reading is 'it suffices / enough.' Glosses: arb كَفَى ('it suffices'), heb דַּי ('enough'), hin पर्याप्त–है ('is sufficient'), kor 끝났다 ('it is finished'), spa basta ('enough'). 1×
