† II. [שֶׁ֫מֶר] n.m. Is 25:6 only pl. lees, dregs (fig.);—abs. שְׁמָרִים Is 25:6(×2) (in both = wine matured by resting undisturbed on the lees); sf. שֹׁקֵט הוּא אֶל־שְׁמָרָיו Je 48:11 (of Moab’s undisturbed life), cf. (of careless men) הַקֹּפְאִים עַל־ שִׁמְרֵיהֶם Zp 1:12; שְׁמָרֶיהָ ψ 75:9 (of י׳’s cup of judgment).

† חֶ֫מֶר n.[m.] wine (poet.) (Aramaic ܚܰܡܪܳܐ, חַמְרָא; Arabic خَمْرٌ, v. LagBN 207)—וְדַם־עֵנָב תִּשְׁתֶּה־חָ֑מֶר Dt 32:14; כֶּרֶם חֶמֶר Is 27:2, but read here כֶּרֶם חֶמֶד (v. הֶמֶד).

[מֶ֫זֶג] n.m. mixture, i.e. mixed wine (NH id., Aramaic, and thence מִזְגָא, מְזִיגָא, ܡܘܽܙܳܓܳܐ; Arabic مِزَاجٌ water mixed with wine, mixture (Frä l.c.), cf. مَزْجٌ, مِزْجٌ );—אַל־יֶחְסַר הַמָּ֑זֶג Ct 7:3 (Tosafoth here spiced wine: cf. Levy NHWB iii. 61).
