† I. [צָלַח] vb. rush;—(Thes al. cp. 𝔗 צְלַח, Syriac ܨܠܰܚ, cleave, penetrate, then advance, v. foll.);— Qal Pf. 3 fs. וְצָֽלְחָה consec. 1 S 10:6; 3 pl. וְצָֽלְחוּ 2 S 19:18; Impf. 3 ms. יִצְלַח Am 5:6 (v. infr.), 3 fs. וַתִּצְלַח Ju 14:6 +;—rush, וְצ׳ הַיַּרְדֵּן 2 S 19:18 they rushed into the Jordan (dub., v. Dr HPS), יִצ׳ כָּאֵשׁ בֵּית יוֹסֵף Am 5:6 lest he rush like fire upon the house of Joseph (or O house, etc. GASm; Now conj. יַצִּית בָּאֵשׁ); especially of sudden possession by (אֱלֹהִים) רוּחַ י׳, c. עַל pers. † II. פּוּק vb. Hiph. bring out, furnish, promote (NH id.; appar. akin to Aramaic נְפַק go forth, Aph. bring forth, produce);— 1. produce, furnish: Impf. (juss.) וְתָפֵק לָרָעֵב Is 58:10 c. נַפְשְׁךָ (read perhaps לַחְמְךָ v. CheHpt.); Pt. מְפִיקִים מִזַּן אֶל־זַן ψ 144:13 (v. זַן). 2. bring out, elicit, obtain, c. acc.; יָפִיק Pr 3:13, + מִן pers., וַיָּפֶק 8:35; 18:22 (all ‖ מצא), 12:2. 3. זְמָמוֹ אַל־תָּפֵק ψ 140:9 his device do not promote.

προκόπτω, cut one's way forward, only metaphorically, π. διὰ τῆς λεωφόρου advance by the high-road, Refs 4th c.BC+:—passive in Refs 5th c.BC+, advance, prosper, ἀνωτέρω ὀδὲν τῶν πρηγμάτων προκοπτομένων Refs __II with neuter adjectives, προκόψομεν οὐδέν shall make no progress, advance not at all. Refs 7th c.BC+; τὰ πολλὰ προκόψασ᾽ having prepared most of the way, Refs 5th c.BC+; τί ἂν προκόπτοι; what good would you get? ψευδομαρτῠρ-ία, ἡ, false witness, Refs 4th c.BC+ codices: but mostly in genitive plural, ψευδομαρτυριῶν διάκρισις Refs 5th c.BC+; -ιῶν ἑλεῖν τινα to convict, and ἁλῶναι to be convicted, of perjury, Refs 5th c.BC+; -ιῶν ἐπισκήψασθαί τινι make allegation of perjury against one, Refs 4th c.BC+; etc. (This form is perhaps always corrupt in codices of classical authors; -ίων (genitive plural neuter, compare {ψευδομαρτυρίου}) should probably be read for -ιῶν, and may be restored for -ίαν in Refs 4th c.BC+; so -ίοις for -ίαις in Refs 4th c.BC+ is unaccented in Papyrus of Refs 4th c.BC+ is an uncertain restoration in Refs 3rd c.BC+; but the feminine form existed later, NT
