Di). 3. proceed, march (cf. Germ. ziehen) וּמָשַׁכְתָּ֫ בְּהַר תָּבוֹר Ju 4:6 cf. 20:37 (abs.), Jb 21:33 (אַחֲרָיו); so also (perhaps) Ex 12:21 proceed (i.e. forth with), and take you a sheep; and prob. משְׁכִים בְּשֵׁבֶט Ju 5:14 those marching with the staff, etc. (most under 2. drawing with, i.e. wielding). 4. draw out a sound, give a sound, בִּמְשֹׁךְ הַיֹּבֵל Ex 19:13 (E) when the ram (’s horn) sounds בִּמ׳ בְּקֶרֶן הַיֹּבֵל Jos 6:5 (JE). 5. draw out, prolong, continue, מְשֹׁךְ חַסְדְךָ לְיֹדְעֶיךָ ψ 36:10 prolong, continue thy kindness to them that know thee; אַל־יְהִי לוֹ משֵׁךְ חֶסֶד 109:12; (so poss. מְשַׁכְתִּיךָ חָ֑סֶד Je 31:3 I have prolonged kindness to thee, cf. Ryle Ne 9:30; al. as 1 supr.); cf. וַתִּמ׳ עֲלֶיהֶם שָׁנִים רַבּוֹת Ne 9:30 (חֶסֶד omitted); תִּמ׳ אַפְּךָ לְדֹר וָדֹר 85:6 (‖ הַלְעוֹלָם תֶּאֱנַף בָּנוּ); וּמ׳ אַבִּירִים בְּכֹחוֹ Jb 24:22 i.e. he (God) prolongeth the life of the mighty (Du draggeth them off, as ψ 28:3 1 supr.,—reading also אֹבְדִים for אַבּ׳, with 𝔊 Bi); cf. Niph. 6. trail seed (draw along in sowing) Am 9:13 (opp. דֹּרֵךְ עֲנָבִים; cf. מֶשֶׁךְ infr.) 7. (late) cheer (draw, attract, gratify) מ׳ בַּיַּיִן אֶת־בְּשָׂרִי Ec 2:3,—so De (who cites NH, Chag14 a) Now Wild—מָשַׁךְ יָדוֹ אֶת־לֹצֲצִים Ho 7:5 is difficult, 𝔊 AV RV he stretcheth out his hand with, maketh common cause with, is hardly poss., text prob. corrupt We Now. Niph. Impf. 3 mpl. לֹא יִמָּשֵׁ֑כוּ Is 13:22 they shall not be prolonged (days of Babylon); 3 fs. לֹא תִּמָּשֵׁךְ Ez 12:25, 28 it shall not be postponed. Pu. Pt. long drawn out: מְמֻשָּׁךְ Is 18:2, 7 of persons, = tall; תֹּחֶלֶת מְמֻשָּׁכָה Pr 13:12 hope postponed, deferred.

† שָׁלַף vb. draw out, off (NH id., loosen, draw (nail, sword; Jastr); Assyrian šalâpu, pluck out, draw sword; Aramaic שְׁלַף draw sword, draw off shoe, ܫܠܰܦ draw sword, in Lexx. remove corselet; Arabic سَلَفَ is pass, pass away, سَلَبَ strip, plunder, etc.);— Qal Pf. 3 ms. שׁ׳ Ju 3:22 +; Impf. 3 ms. וַיִּשְׁלֹף Ru 4:8, etc.; Imv. ms. שְׁלֹף Ju 9:54 +; Pt. act. שֹׁלֵף 8:10 +, etc.; pass. f. שְׁלוּפָה Nu 22:23 +;— 1. draw out sword from (מִן) wound Ju 3:22, cf. I. חלץ 1; also RSK 269 Dr Dt 25:9 BewerSK lxxvi (1903), 332). 3. shoot up (?), i.e. draw out blade, of grass on roof ψ 129:6 (cf. Ew Bae al.); Che Dr is unsheathed (vb. c. subj. indef. = pass.), with same meaning; Hup-Now proposes שָׁלֵם (with ‖ in Syriac); v. OrtenbergTextkritik d. Ps. (1861), 30 שֶׁחָלָף, WeHpt Du חֲלֹף (as 90:5, 6, v. ח׳ 2).

Co), v 33, + v 20 מְרֻטָה for MT מְעֻטָּה (Ew Sm Co Berthol). Niph. Impf. יִמָּרֵט רֹאשׁוֹ Lv 13:40, 41 his head is made bald (by leprosy). Pu. Hb 1:15 (Chaldeans, their opponents); violence, the wicked Pr 21:7. Niph. (read Qal? Sam. יָגוֹר cf. Di) Impf. יִגָּ֑ר Lv 11:7 c. acc. cogn. גֵּרָה לֹא־יִגָּ֑ר = (the) cud he cheweth not, cf. also Dt 14:8 Sam. 𝔊 (Di) Poʿal. Pt.
