Timnath-serah was the town in the hill country of Ephraim given to Joshua as his inheritance (Joshua 19:50) and where he was buried (24:30). The name is a metathesis (letter reversal) of 'Timnath-heres' (Judges 2:9), perhaps deliberately altered to avoid pagan connotations ('heres' can mean 'sun'). The site is traditionally identified with Khirbet Tibnah, about 20 miles northwest of Jerusalem. That Joshua received this town after all other tribes had been allotted their portions demonstrates his selfless leadership—he took his inheritance last, and he chose a place in his own tribe of Ephraim.
