delight, exquisite pleasure

Senses
1. delight, exquisite pleasure Intensive plural noun שַׁעֲשֻׁעִים (sha'ashu'im), always plural of intensity, denoting deep delight, exquisite pleasure, or supreme enjoyment. The most prominent usage is in Psalm 119 where the psalmist declares God's Torah to be 'my delight' (שַׁעֲשֻׁעָי) five times (vv. 24, 77, 92, 143, 174), expressing the intense pleasure found in divine instruction. Also used of personified Wisdom's delight before God in creation (Prov 8:30-31), of God's vineyard as his delight (Isa 5:7), and of Ephraim as a 'child of delight' to God (Jer 31:20). Arabic لَذَّة / مَسَرَّات 'pleasure/delights,' German Wohlgefallen 'delight/pleasure,' Korean 즐거움/기쁨 'joy/delight,' Spanish delicias/deleites 'delights,' French delice 'delight,' Hindi आनन्द 'bliss/joy.' All five auto-clusters represent the same lexeme with splitting caused only by pronominal suffixes (my/his/absolute) and conjunctive prefixes.
