Retama, arbusto de retama (planta del desierto)
Este sustantivo designa un arbusto desértico, probablemente la retama blanca (Retama raetam), común en las regiones áridas del Cercano Oriente. Célebre como el refugio de Elías en el desierto, también aparece en descripciones de penuria extrema y como combustible para brasas. Las raíces profundas de la planta, su escasa sombra y su madera que arde intensamente forman parte destacada de la imaginería bíblica.
