Altura, elevacion; especialmente altivez y arrogante autoexaltacion
Sustantivo derivado de la raiz rum (ser alto), que abarca tanto el concepto fisico de altura como el concepto moral de orgullo. En Prov 25:3, denota la altura espacial literal — 'los cielos por la altura' — emparejada con la profundidad como cosas inescrutables, analogas al corazon inescrutable de un rey. Con mucha mayor frecuencia, sin embargo, nombra el pecado de la altivez: Isa 2:11 y 2:17 lo emparejan con la soberbia humana que sera humillada en el Dia del Senor. El aleman 'Erhabenheit' (sublimidad) capta ambas dimensiones, mientras que el espanol 'altivez' y 'soberbia' apuntan directamente a la falta moral.
