1. skin disease / leprosy (tsara'at) — The noun tsara'at denotes the ritually significant skin disease described in Leviticus 13-14 and in the narratives of Naaman (2 Kings 5) and others. All four clusters represent the same medical-ritual concept with grammatical variation only: absolute and construct forms (tsara'at, tsara'at-X 'skin-disease of'), definite article (ha-tsara'at 'the skin-disease'), possessive suffix (mi-tsara'to 'from his leprosy'), and conjunctive forms (we-ha-tsara'at 'and the leprosy'). Multilingual glosses are uniform: Arabic baras (برص), Spanish lepra/tsaraat, Korean nabbyeong (나병), Swahili ukoma, and Hindi kodh (कोढ़). The term covers a range of skin afflictions in the Levitical system but functions as a single lexical sense. 35×
