Adj-msc  |  1× in 1 sense
parched, dried out from thirst or heat
This adjective intensifies the idea of being completely dried out, going beyond ordinary thirst to extreme desiccation. Isaiah uses it to describe people so parched with thirst that they are dying (Isa 5:13). The Spanish 'reseca' captures the sense of thorough drying, while the English 'parched-of' shows the construction with the following noun.

Senses
1. sense 1 Describes the state of being extremely dried out or desiccated, especially from lack of water. Isaiah 5:13 depicts the exile's severity: people 'parched with thirst,' showing complete dehydration. This intensive adjective form (note BDB's citation of Gesenius §84b-c) emphasizes the extremity of the condition, not merely thirsty but utterly withered.
