2. exact a tithe (Qal) — Qal stem meaning to take a tenth from, to exact a tithe, used of a king's authority to levy a tenth of agricultural produce and livestock. Appears only in Samuel's warning about the ways of a king: 'he will tithe your grain and your vineyards' and 'he will tithe your flocks' (1 Sam 8:15,17).
