Anaiah (personal name: a postexilic leader who stood with Ezra and signed the covenant)
Anaiah is named twice in Nehemiah, once as a man who stood beside Ezra during the public reading of the Law (Nehemiah 8:4) and once as a signatory of the covenant (Nehemiah 10:22). The Septuagint renders it Ανανια or Ανανιας. The name may mean 'the Lord has answered.' All modern translations transliterate the name.
