Amok (personal name: a postexilic priest in the time of Joiakim)
Amok is named among the priests who returned with Zerubbabel and later served in the days of the high priest Joiakim (Nehemiah 12:7, 20). The Septuagint renders it Αμουκ. The name's etymology is uncertain, though it may be related to the root עמק ('deep'). Nothing further is known about this individual beyond his priestly lineage. All modern translations simply transliterate the name.
