Outstretching or sending forth, particularly of the hand or gifts
This term describes the action of stretching out or sending forth. Isaiah uses it for territorial conquest—Edom and Moab becoming 'the outstretching of their hand,' meaning territory they seize or possess. Esther employs it for the joyful custom of 'sending portions' of food to one another during Purim celebrations.
