dung-place, dung-pit; place of refuse
A hapax in Isaiah 25:10, where Moab is trampled 'in the waters of a dung-pit'—a graphic image of humiliation. The Qere reads 'in its place' (במו), but the Ketiv has 'in the waters of a dung-pit' (במי מדמנה), intensifying the disgrace. This is agricultural waste disposal vocabulary pressed into service for prophetic insult. The Arabic cognate confirms the sense of refuse heap or manure pile.
Sentidos
1. sense 1 — Isaiah 25:10's image is deliberately repulsive: Moab trampled like straw in liquid manure. The Spanish 'muladar' (dunghill) and Arabic 'manure pit' capture the degradation. Some translations (French, German) leave it untranslated, perhaps uncomfortable with the earthiness. This is prophetic rhetoric at its most visceral, using barnyard imagery for divine judgment. 1×
