The name's form is unusually feminine, leading to various scholarly speculations, though the text clearly presents him as Deborah's husband. The Septuagint renders it as Λαφ(ε)ιδωθ. His only significance in Scripture is his marital relationship to one of Israel's most important leaders during the judges period.
