Lud/Ludim: (1) Lidia en Asia Menor, hijo de Sem; (2) pueblo africano, hijo de Mizraim, posiblemente confundidos
Lud aparece como hijo de Sem (representando a Lidia en Asia Menor) y Ludim como hijo de Mizraim/Egipto (representando un pueblo africano), lo cual genera debate académico sobre si se trata del mismo pueblo o de grupos distintos. El Lud asiático figura en genealogías junto a Aram y Arfaxad, claramente los lidios de Anatolia. Sin embargo, los textos proféticos sitúan a Lud/Ludim en África junto a Put y Cus, sugiriendo un pueblo norteafricano. Algunos eruditos proponen confusión textual, sugiriendo que los 'Ludim' de Jeremías deberían leerse como 'Lubim' (libios), como hace la Septuaginta.
