Kesalon (a town on Judah's northern border)
Kesalon was a town on the northern boundary of Judah's tribal allotment, identified with Mount Jearim in Joshua 15:10. It has been identified with modern Kesla, located about 10 miles west of Jerusalem. The site lay on the important border between Judah and Benjamin, in the hill country that formed Judah's northern frontier. Archaeological and geographical studies have confirmed the general location, making this one of the more securely identified boundary markers in the tribal allotments.
Sentidos
1. sense 1 — A place name marking Judah's northern territorial boundary, identified with a site west of Jerusalem. The multilingual consistency (Spanish 'Quesalón,' French/German 'Kesalon') reflects straightforward geographical naming. The equivalence with Mount Jearim in the boundary description helps establish the location, and modern identification with Kesla provides continuity with the ancient name. Boundary markers like this were crucial for defining tribal territories and preventing disputes in ancient Israel's decentralized political structure. 1×
