Chenani was a Levite who participated in the great prayer and confession ceremony recorded in Nehemiah 9. He is listed among those who stood on the stairs of the Levites and cried out with a loud voice to the Lord. This was part of the covenant renewal ceremony following the reading of the Law during Ezra and Nehemiah's reforms. No other information about him is preserved beyond his participation in this significant moment of corporate repentance and covenant recommitment in the post-exilic community.
