Genesis 35:16 and 48:7 both use it to describe the remaining distance to Ephrath/Bethlehem when Rachel died giving birth to Benjamin ('when there was still a kibrat of land to come to Ephrath'). 2 Kings 5:19 uses it for the distance Naaman traveled from Elisha before turning back. The exact distance is uncertain, but 2 Kings suggests it was relatively short—perhaps a few miles or the distance visible to the eye. Akkadian kibrâti means an extended territory or quarter of the world, but the Hebrew usage seems more modest.
