Prep-b | N-msc  |  14× in 1 sense
Uprightness, rectitude, moral straightness; integrity of heart and conduct before God and others.
Derived from the root yashar ('to be straight'), yosher names the quality of living in moral alignment -- straight paths, straight speech, a straight heart. Proverbs holds it up as a guiding principle: the upright walk in straightness (Prov 2:13; 4:11), while those who abandon it turn to crooked ways. Solomon asks God to evaluate him according to 'the uprightness of my heart' (1 Kgs 9:4), and David praises God who 'tests the heart and delights in uprightness' (1 Chr 29:17). Job insists his words spring 'from the uprightness of my heart' (Job 33:3). French 'droiture' and Spanish 'rectitud' preserve the spatial metaphor of moral straightness.

Senses
1. uprightness, rectitude Moral straightness and integrity of character. Paired with tom ('blamelessness') in Psalm 25:21 and associated with the heart's disposition in Deuteronomy 9:5, 1 Kings 9:4, and 1 Chronicles 29:17. Applied to speech in Job 6:25 and Ecclesiastes 12:10. Proverbs contrasts it with crooked paths (2:13; 4:11). Job 33:23 extends the sense to what is ethically due. 14×
