1. YHWH (the divine name) — The Tetragrammaton יהוה (Yahweh), the proper covenantal name of the God of Israel, occurring approximately 6,823 times in the Hebrew Bible making it by far the most frequent proper noun in Scripture. Traditionally read as Adonai (אֲדֹנָי) in Jewish liturgical practice, rendered as 'the LORD' (κύριος) in the Septuagint, and transliterated or translated variously across languages: Arabic الرَّبّ (the Lord), Korean 여호와 (Yehovah), Spanish Yahve, German der HERR, Hindi यहोवा, French l'Eternel. The name is associated with the self-revelation at the burning bush (Exod 3:14-15) and appears across all genres: narrative, law, prophecy, psalmody, and wisdom. All inflectional variants -- with prepositions (ל, מ, ב, כ), conjunctions (ו), or standalone -- refer to the same divine person and do not constitute distinct lexical senses. The auto-clustering by prepositional prefix is purely grammatical, not semantic. 6522×
