Temer, recelar; sentir pavor ante una amenaza percibida o la ira divina
Verbo que expresa un temor profundo o una ansiedad temerosa, frecuentemente dirigida hacia una fuente concreta de peligro. En Deuteronomio, Moises confiesa que temio la ardiente ira del SENOR tras el episodio del becerro de oro (Dt 9:19), y el termino reaparece para el pavor ante las enfermedades de Egipto (Dt 28:60). Job lo emplea de modo conmovedor: 'lo que tanto temia me ha sobrevenido' (Job 3:25). La construccion con מִפְּנֵי ('ante la presencia de') marca el objeto temido, ya sea la ira divina o una calamidad anticipada.
