wisdom

Senses
1. wisdom The Aramaic noun for wisdom, denoting divinely granted insight, skill in interpretation, and comprehensive understanding. Used as an attribute of God who gives wisdom (Daniel 2:20-21, 23), as a quality found in Daniel through the spirit of the gods (Daniel 5:11, 14), as an instrumental means by which God reveals secrets (Daniel 2:30, 'by wisdom'), and as the standard of wisdom belonging to God by which Ezra is to appoint judges (Ezra 7:25). Appears in absolute, emphatic, and construct states with various prepositions (be-, ke-). The multilingual glosses are completely uniform: hikma (Arabic), sabiduria (Spanish), buddhi (Hindi), jihye (Korean).
