honor, majesty (especially of a king); Aramaic
An Aramaic noun denoting royal splendor and majesty, appearing in Daniel's account of Nebuchadnezzar's madness and restoration. The king's 'majesty' returned to him (Dan 4:30, 36), and God gave 'majesty' to Nebuchadnezzar (Dan 5:18). The Spanish mi majestad, French gloire, and the emphatic forms in Aramaic all point to outward dignity and sovereign grandeur. The word evokes the visible trappings of kingship and divine favor.

Senses
1. sense 1 The noun describes the royal dignity and visible splendor that Nebuchadnezzar lost and regained (Dan 4:30, 36) and which God had granted him (Dan 5:18). Cross-lingual glosses (majesty, gloire) consistently reflect the high-status, honorific sense. This is not inner virtue but the external manifestation of sovereign authority.
