Dophkah, an Israelite encampment in the wilderness wanderings
Dophkah was a stopping place during Israel's exodus journey, located between the Wilderness of Sin and Alush according to Numbers 33:12-13. This itinerary notice preserves the memory of the route through the Sinai wilderness, though the exact location is now unknown. Some scholars have connected the name to Egyptian mining regions (Mafkat), but this remains speculative. Like many wilderness stations, it survives only in this single wilderness itinerary.
