Dinhabah, capital city of Bela, an early Edomite king
Dinhabah was the royal city of Bela son of Beor, one of the early kings of Edom before Israel had kings. Genesis 36:32 and its parallel in 1 Chronicles 1:43 identify it as Bela's capital. The location is uncertain, though some scholars have suggested Tennib in the region east-northeast of Heshbon. Like many Edomite place names, it survives only in these genealogical lists recording the succession of Edom's monarchy.

1. sense 1 — The multilingual transliterations ('Dinhabah, Dinhaba, Dinhavah') show slight spelling variations but refer to the same Edomite capital. Both biblical occurrences identify it as the city 'of Bela son of Beor.' The parallel passages in Genesis and Chronicles preserve this ancient geographical memory from the pre-monarchic period of Edom, though the site's exact location remains unknown to modern archaeology. 2×
