and Dimonah (place name in southern Judah, possibly identical with Dibon)
A town in Judah's southern allotment (Joshua 15:22), possibly identical to Dibon mentioned elsewhere in Negev contexts. The name appears only here, and the site is unidentified. The similarity to Dibon (and Isaiah's Dimon) suggests these may be variant spellings of the same settlement, though the geographical contexts differ (Moabite Dibon vs. Judahite Dimonah). The boundary lists preserve archaic place names, many now lost.

1. sense 1 — Joshua 15:22 lists towns in southern Judah's inheritance: 'Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah...' Spanish renders 'y Dimoná,' English 'and Dimonah,' French and German matching. The conjunction-plus-name pattern is consistent. The name's obscurity and single occurrence mean translations simply transliterate without interpretive comment. Its connection to other 'Dibon/Dimon' names remains scholarly speculation. 1×
