2. pot, caldron, kettle — A cooking pot, caldron, or kettle used for boiling meat or other foods. In 1 Sam 2:14, the priest's servant thrusts a fork into the pot (baddud) to take the meat. In 2 Chr 35:13, the Passover offerings are boiled in kettles (ubaddewadiym). In Job 41:20 (ET 41:12), Leviathan makes the deep boil like a pot (kedud). 1. basket — A basket or container used for carrying produce, especially figs or other goods. In Jer 24:1-2, YHWH shows Jeremiah two baskets (dudim) of figs set before the temple -- one good, one bad. In 2 Kgs 10:7, the heads of Ahab's sons are put in baskets (baddudiym). In Ps 81:6 (ET 81:5), hands are freed from the basket (middud), recalling Israel's labor in Egypt.
