† כִּיֹּר, כִּיּוֹר n.m. 1 K 7:38 pot, basin (NH כִּיּוֹר wash-basin, so Aramaic כִּיּוֹרָא)—abs. כִּיֹּר 1 K 7:30 + 8 times; כִּיּוֹר 1 S 2:14 + 5 times; cstr. כִּיּוֹר Ex 30:18 + 2 times; pl. abs. כִּיֹּרוֹת 1 K 7:40 (but v. infr.), 2 Ch 4:14; כִּיֹּרֹת 1 K 7:43; כִּיּוֹרִים 2 Ch 4:6; cstr. כִּיֹּרוֹת 1 K 7:38;— 1. pot for cooking 1 S 2:14 (‖ דּוּד, קַלַּחַת, פָּרוּר). 2. fire-pot כִּיּוֹר אֵשׁ Zc 12:6 (‖ לַפִּיד אֵשׁ; fig. of chiefs of Judah). 3. basin of bronze for washing laver; set on a bronze support a. before tabernacle Ex 30:18, 28; 31:9; 35:16; 38:8; 39:39; 40:7, 11, 30 Lv 8:11 (all P). b. 10 in number, 5 at front corners of temple 1 K 7:30, 38(×3), 43 2 K 16:17 2 Ch 4:14, 2 Ch 4:6 (1 K 7:40 read הַסִּירוֹת as v 45 and ‖ 2 Ch 4:11, 16, so Heb. † דּוּד n.m. Je 24:2 pot, jar (Aramaic דּוּדָא, ܕܽܘܕܳܐ; perhaps cf. Syriac ܕܰܘܶܕ disturb, from the idea of boiling)—abs. דּוּד 1 S 2:14 + 4 times; pl. דּוּדִים 2 K 10:7, דְּוָדִים 2 Ch 35:13; pl. cstr. דּוּדָאֵי Je 24:1— a. pot, kettle or cooking (בִּשֵּׁל) 1 S 2:14 (‖ פָּרוּר, קַלַּחַת, כִּיּוֹר), 2 Ch 35:13 (vb. בִּשֵּׁל, ‖ צַלָּחוֹת, סִירוֹת), cf. Jb 41:12; b. receptacle for carrying, all Vrss basket, 2 K 10:7 (heads of king’s sons), Je 24:2(×2) (figs) cf. דּוּדָאֵי Je 24:1, as if from a ii. [דּוּדַי]; ψ 81:7 (clay or bricks, ‖ סֵבֶל).

† מַחֲבַת n.f. flat plate, pan, or griddle for baking, only P and late; abs. מ׳ Lv 2:5 + 2 times; מַחֲבַ֑ת Lv 7:9; cstr. מַחֲבַת Ez 4:3;— 1. used in preparing the (baken) mincha, preceded by עַל־ Lv 2:5; 6:14; 7:9 (all P), cf. 1 Ch 23:29. 2. מ׳ בַּרְזֶל Ez 4:3 a plate of iron, signifying an iron wall, in prediction of siege of city.

† II. אָח n.f. fire-pot, brasier (Arabic وَلَدًا, in Thes, is an error fire-pot is loan-word from Egyptian ʿḫ according to WMMOLZ 3, 51) always c. art. Je 36:22 הַא׳ לְפָנָיו מְבֹעָ֑רֶת the brasier before him was burning; v 23 הָאֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר אֶל־הָא׳; v 23 הָאֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר עַל־הָא׳ (i. אָח, brother v. sub אחה; iii. אָח interj., p. 25).

† פָּרוּר n.[m.] pot (Thes from boiling, dub.; otherwise Köii. 1, 151);—pot (earthern? v. פרור Ecclus 13:2, Gk. χύτρα, opp. λέβης; Syriac ܕܦܰܚܳܪܳܐ ܩܶܕܪܳܐ jar of the potter, opp. ܐܻܝܪܳܐ ܕܰܢܚܳܫܳܐ), for boiling Nu 11:8 (JE), 1 S 2:14, cf. Ju 6:19 (𝔊 χύτρα, κύθρα).

† מַרְחֶ֫שֶׁת n.f. stew-pan, sauce-pan (so NH; v. especially LevyNHWB iii. 69b, and cf. NH רָחוֹשׁ id ib. iv. 443a);—מִנְחַת מ׳ Lv 2:7, כָּל־[מִנְחָה] נַעֲשָׂה בַמּ׳ 7:9.

† צלול Kt, צְלִיל Qr n.m. cake, round loaf;—צ׳ לֶחֶם שְׂעֹרִים Ju 7:13 (cf. GFM).

† קַלַּ֫חַת n.f. caldron (ErmanZMG xivi (1892), 121 cp. Egyptian ḳrḥt, pot, cf. OCopt. ǵalaḥt LagBN 88, wh. has come back as loan-wd. WMMAs. u. Eur. 94);—abs. ק׳ 1 S 2:14 (+ כִּיּוֹר, דּוּד, פָּרוּר); קַלָּ֑חַת Mi 3:3 (‖ סִיר).

† מַכְתֵּשׁ n.m. mortar (place of pounding, braying; cf. Palm. n.pr.m. מכתש = contundens Vog No. 97)—abs. מ׳ Pr 27:22 (v. foregoing); hollow resembling a mortar Ju 15:19 (whence came forth a water-spring; cf. GFM), Zp 1:11 = a part of Jerusalem, cf. Schwally ZAW x. (1890), 173 f.
