Estandarte tribal o militar que marcaba las divisiones del campamento israelita y el orden de marcha en el desierto.
Se refiere a los grandes estandartes portados por cada una de las cuatro divisiones de tres tribus durante el campamento y la marcha de Israel en el desierto. Casi todas las 14 ocurrencias aparecen en Números 1-2 y 10, donde cada דֶּגֶל encabeza un campamento de tres tribus: Judá al este, Rubén al sur, Efraín al oeste, Dan al norte. El único uso figurado en Cantares 2:4 —«su bandera sobre mí es amor»— transforma el emblema militar en una imagen íntima de protección pactual. El español emplea consistentemente «bandera», mientras que el inglés alterna entre «banner» y «standard».
