Sustantivo que designa el hueso o la estructura esquelética, con sentidos extendidos que siguen la misma lógica metafórica de su sinónimo עֶצֶם: del hueso físico a la fuerza inherente, y de la sustancia corporal a la idea de 'uno mismo' o 'mismísimo'. La bendición de Jacob describe a Isacar como un 'asno huesudo', es decir, robusto y fuerte (Gn 49:14). Proverbios lo emplea figuradamente: un espíritu quebrantado seca los huesos (17:22) y la lengua apacible quiebra el hueso (25:15). Los cognados arameo y árabe preservan el sentido primario de cuerpo o hueso.

1. Hueso, estructura ósea — Hueso, armazón esquelético. El sentido concreto anatómico aparece en Job 40:18 al describir los miembros del Behemot como tubos de bronce, en paralelo con עֶצֶם.
