Acabarse, cesar; completar, llevar a cumplimiento.
Verbo poético que aparece exclusivamente en los Salmos, empleado tanto intransitivamente para describir cosas que cesan o llegan a su fin, como transitivamente para expresar que Dios completa o cumple propósitos en favor de su pueblo. En el Salmo 12:1 se usa en paralelo con el raro verbo פָּסַס ('desaparecer'), lamentando la extinción de los fieles. En el Salmo 138:8 expresa la confianza firme de que el SEÑOR llevará a término lo que concierne al salmista. El cognado arameo גְּמַר se convirtió en el término estándar para completar el estudio en el uso rabínico posterior.

1. Cesar, acabarse — Llegar a su fin, cesar, no ser más. Usado intransitivamente en lamentos y preguntas retóricas sobre la desaparición de la fidelidad y la misericordia. Presente en Sal 7:9, Sal 12:1 y Sal 77:8, donde aparece en paralelo con términos como אָפֵס ('desaparecer') y פָּסַס ('desvanecerse').
