N-fsd  |  4× in 1 sense
Exile, captivity (Aramaic); the state of being deported or the community of exiles.
An Aramaic noun found exclusively in the later biblical books, referring to the condition of exile or the exiled community itself. In Ezra 6:16 the 'sons of the exile' (bene galuta) celebrate the temple dedication, marking their identity as a restored deportee community. Daniel uses the term to identify Daniel himself as one brought from Judah's exile (Dan 2:25; 5:13; 6:13). It is the Aramaic cognate of the Hebrew golah, and the Spanish rendering 'cautiverio/exilio' and English 'exile' preserve the dual nuance of both the state and the people.

Senses
1. sense 1 Exile or captivity — the condition of forced displacement, or collectively the community of deportees. Appears only in Aramaic portions of Scripture (Ezra 6:16; Dan 2:25; 5:13; 6:13). The emphatic form galuta parallels Hebrew golah. English 'exile' and Spanish 'cautiverio' both reflect the term's range from abstract state to concrete group identity.
