Tendón, nervio; tejido fibroso que conecta músculo con hueso, usado literal y figuradamente para la obstinación
Designa un tendón o nervio, el tejido conectivo resistente del cuerpo. En su uso más memorable, nombra el 'tendón de la cadera' (גִּיד הַנָּשֶׁה) que fue tocado durante la lucha de Jacob en Peniel (Gn 32:32), dando origen a una ley dietética perdurable. La palabra también aparece en un vigoroso lenguaje figurado: Isaías 48:4 describe la obstinación de Israel como un 'tendón de hierro' en el cuello. Cognado del arameo גִּידָא y relacionado con el árabe jīd (cuello), el término abarca tanto la descripción anatómica como una poderosa metáfora.
