Gibetón — ciudad levítica en el territorio de Dan, pueblo fronterizo disputado por los filisteos
Gibetón (que significa «montículo» o «altura») es una ciudad levítica en el territorio tribal de Dan, situada en la frontera disputada con los filisteos. Aparece en las listas de reparto (Jos 19:44) y en el registro de ciudades levíticas (Jos 21:23), y luego emerge dramáticamente en las narraciones de 1 Reyes 15-16, donde el ejército israelita la asedia dos veces: primero cuando Baasa asesina a Nadab (1 Re 15:27) y de nuevo cuando Zimri derroca a Elá (1 Re 16:15, 17). Su papel reiterado como sitio de asedio subraya cómo esta pequeña ciudad fronteriza se hallaba en la línea de fractura entre Israel y Filistea.
