Beth-rehob, a town/region in the far north near Dan; allied with Ammon against Israel
A place name in the northern frontier, near Dan and on the road to Hamath. When the Danites sought to conquer Laish, the city had no ally because it was 'far from Sidon' and 'near Beth-rehob' (Judges 18:28). During David's Ammonite war, the Arameans of Beth-rehob provided mercenaries to fight Israel (2 Samuel 10:6, twice). Beth-rehob appears to be identical with 'Rehob' in Numbers 13:21 and 2 Samuel 10:8. The name means 'house of the street/broad place.' Location uncertain but likely in the Beqaa valley or upper Jordan region.
