Etam; lugar en el borde del desierto donde Israel acampó tras salir de Egipto.
Parada en la ruta del éxodo de Israel, situada en la frontera entre la tierra cultivada de Egipto y el desierto abierto. Etam aparece en el itinerario de Números 33 y en la narración de Éxodo 13:20, marcando la transición del territorio habitado al desierto. El «desierto de Etam» (Nm 33:8) se convirtió en un hito determinante de las primeras etapas de la travesía por el desierto. El nombre podría derivar de un vocablo egipcio que significa «fortaleza» o «recinto», acorde con su ubicación fronteriza.
