Especie arbórea (tamarisco) mencionada en contextos que sugieren significación sagrada. Abraham plantó uno en Beerseba, posiblemente para señalar un santuario. Saúl celebraba consejo bajo un tamarisco en Guibeá, y sus restos fueron sepultados bajo otro. El tamarisco es un arbusto-árbol perennifolio de hojas escamosas que prospera en regiones áridas y aparentemente se valoraba como referencia para sitios sagrados.
