Cesar, acabarse o agotarse: se dice de recursos que se agotan, opresores que perecen y la misericordia divina que parece detenerse.
Verbo que aparece exclusivamente en Qal perfecto tercera persona masculino singular, y transmite la idea de que algo llega a su fin o queda completamente agotado. En Gn 47:15-16 describe cómo el dinero se acabó durante la hambruna en Egipto, mientras que en Is 16:4 y 29:20 anuncia el fin de opresores y tiranos, emparejado con sinónimos de destrucción (כָּלָה, תָּמַם). En el Sal 77:8 el salmista pregunta con angustia si la misericordia de Dios ha cesado para siempre, usando la fuerza interrogativa que el español capta bien con «¿Acaso cesó?».
