Gemido, clamor; sustantivo que expresa el grito angustiado del oprimido, del pobre o del prisionero.
Forma sustantiva del verbo אָנַק (H0602), que denota el clamor sostenido de quienes se hallan en aflicción. Aparece en contextos sálmicos y proféticos profundamente conmovedores: el gemido de los pobres (Sal 12:5), el quejido del prisionero que llega a los oídos de Dios (Sal 79:11; 102:20) y el llanto que acompaña la infidelidad de Israel (Mal 2:13). Cada aparición implica que Dios escucha y responde a tal gemido. Tanto el español «gemido» como el francés «gémissement» derivan del latín gemitus, confirmando la universalidad de este clamor.
