El sustantivo אֲנָחָה (anajá) capta la expresión involuntaria y audible de una pena profunda o un dolor físico: el suspiro pesado o gemido que brota de quien está en angustia. Job declara que su suspiro viene en lugar del pan y su gemido se derrama como agua (Job 3:24), convirtiéndolo en sustituto de la vida cotidiana.
